Sky Chaser, known as Tsuibangeki (墜磐撃 / ツイバンゲキ Tsuibangeki, lit. "Crashing Boulder Attack") in Japan, is a Z-Saber EX Skill from Mega Man Zero 4 that Zero learns by defeating Noble Mandrago during sunny weather.
Pressing down while slashing in the air causes Zero to come crashing down to the ground Z-Saber first. When the Z-Saber hits the ground, rocks and debris will fly out, damaging enemies on contact.
Use in Combat
Sky Chaser is quite similar to Saber Smash from Mega Man Zero 3, but gains extra functionality from the rock and debris upon impact that fly slightly upwards and outwards.
The full damage of Sky Chaser occurs when an enemy is directly hit by the Saber and debris. As an exceptional use case, Zero can destroy even heavy Mechaniloids such as the GangaGun with a single use of Sky Chaser by lining up the Z-Saber to hit the side of the GangaGun and cause debris to finish it off. This can be performed even without Croire's Hacker Lv. 3 ability active.
Debris will only occur if the Z-Saber makes contact with the ground. On steeper inclines or ledge, if facing downhill, it is possible for no debris to be created, as the attack is cancelled early by Zero's feet touching the ground. Sky Chaser can also be used right after a small jump if desiring to send the debris flying to hit enemies close to the ground.
Sky Chaser possesses general usefulness in boss encounters as a follow-up from a charged Z-Saber attack, 3-hit slash combo, or Flame Fang, due to having a hit priority of 5. The flying debris is not as useful in a combo against bosses however, as the debris has a priority of 1. Nevertheless, Sky Chaser remains an effective option in a variety of scenarios as a "finisher" to longer combos or as a zoning option due to the debris.
